WWOS does not charge anything for the use of its massive archives worldwar1.com that consists of thousands of pages of documents, letters, reports, and artifacts. The Internet History of the Great War was started in the 1990s by computer scientist Michael Iavarone and we are adding more material continuously. Help us modernize the archives and make them more user-friendly for the 21st century.

In addition, the Leonard G. Shurtleff Hall of Heroes publishes online papers and articles of original research on First World War topics. These submissions are reviewed and vetted by unpaid scholars and expert volunteers before being added to the worldwar1.com archives. It is an ongoing process to update, remodel, and expand the 30-year-old Great War Internet archives, and establish and maintain the Hall of Heroes.
Equally important to these efforts, World War One Studies must publicize and build awareness for the worldwar1.com archives and solicit papers and articles for the Hall of Heroes.
